Well 3 of us so far (and likely to remain so)
Ulli
(my wife) is 32, German and has been brought up in Hannover. Ulli is the brains and beauty in the family. She is
currently a teacher in a German "Volkshochschule" (Open University, for adults) teaching English and
Social studies and also has her fingers in other pies. She can't play backgammon to save herself though :-)
She is a fine wife, mother and all round good egg as we English would say. Our eyes met across a crowded dance floor in 1987 (2 weeks after I arrived in Germany) and we were married 3 years later. Ulli also happens to be a very fine cook and makes the best Goulash this side of Hungary.
Ulli can't stand sport, especially Rugby as I have been known to come home black and blue a few times from games :-) She enjoys reading Barbara Wood books and sings in choir.
Alison is busy opening her 5th birthday presents and probably wishing that dad would hurry up and
take the picture so she can get on with it.
Alison is Ulli and I's bundle of joy. She was 5 in May and is taller than most 6 year olds (definitely my genes, I'm 6'5) She is gorgeous and highly intelligent of course. Ok, all dads say that but she is already bilingual and talks like a child of 7-9 in both German and English. Definitely a girls girl. Barbie dolls and make up. She isn't that interested in Backgammon or Rugby yet but I'm working on it ;-)
Alison has decided that when she grows up she wishes to be a Princess How old is Prince Harry?
She attends the English speaking International Kindergarten here in Hannover, but her favorite language is German and she will only speak English when she has too. Her favorite hobbies are tent building (out of blankets over tables etc. ) and drawing.
Yours truly. Born
in Portsmouth, England 32 years ago. Dad left the navy and got a job on the oil rigs which involved travel so before
I knew it I was in Las Palmas at 6, Singapore at 8, Scotland 11 and back in England at 12. Traveled most the way
round the world by the time I was 12 years old so I can hardly claim a boring childhood. During my time abroad
I was at American schools. Hated school (both American and British). Loved college (discovered females :-).
I decided to travel the world some more and joined the British Army at 19.
Did well, fast promotion etc. Got bored, left the army in '91 after 6 years service, (providing further military
details will result in me having to track you down and exterminating you) bluffed my way into the financial services...
did the insurance thing for 6 years. Decided to go fully on to the German net (I was a financial adviser for the
forces in Germany up until then). Bluffed my way into the position I hold to date which is Marketing / business
development manager for a German insurance brokerage. Thoroughly enjoying it.
I speak fluent(ish) German. My main hobbies are Backgammon and computing, in particular creating web pages such as
this site, which I'm keen that one day will become more than just a hobby. I'm extremely vain and I'm loving every
minute typing in this ego building, biographical b******t ;-)
